Welcome to Year 6

Welcome to Year 6 – Mrs Nicholson

 

Year 6 is a time where your child will begin to take on more responsibilities in school and experience a broader range of opportunities. Working with us this year will be Miss Jackson (PPA cover and LSA), Miss Gerrard (LSA) and Coach Gary (sports coach).

Throughout this year, we will continue to work hard to focus on our school values being kind, calm and respectful. Children will be awarded Dojo points for displaying these values which they can then swap for a prize at the end of each half term in multiples of 50 up to 200

 

 

Attendance and Punctuality

It is extremely important that your child attends school and is on time every day so they do not miss out on important learning. We have morning tasks starting at 8:50am that are important to your child’s education.

Please help your child to strive for excellent attendance and punctuality.

 

Homework

Children in Year 6 (UKS2), are expected to complete 2 and a half hours of homework per week. This includes daily reading, TTRS, Emilie and work given in homework folders. Any work set in the homework folder will be given out on Wednesday and is expected to be completed by the following Monday.

 

Reading at home

Children are expected to bring their reading books into school every day. We appreciate that it is not always possible to read every night with your child, but we do ask that you make every effort to read at least 4 or 5 times per week, make a comment and sign your child’s reading record.

 

PE

Coach Gary will be teaching PE lessons every Tuesday so the children will need to come to school dressed in their kits on this day.
